It’s that time of year again! Around this time I always make crafty new year’s resolutions. You won’t catch me making the traditional resolutions (for example “must lose weight” or “must go to the gym more”) as they are no fun to keep. Crafty resolutions, however, are usually pretty enjoyable. So before I make my resolutions for 2014, I should reflect on my progress from this time last year. Pasted below are my 2013 resolutions with update comments:

  1. Master colourwork/fair isle knitting (carried over from 2011!) Update: Done! See Sheepheid and all of the MerryKAL balls.
  2. Publish more of my own knitting patterns. I have 2 or 3 in my head already. Update: Done! I published 5 patterns in 2013.
  3. Sew more – I really enjoyed making the Kirsten Kimono Tee, so I am going to try sewing more garments in jersey fabric. Update: not really done! Perhaps something to carry over to 2014?
  4. ‘De-stash’ my craft supplies (I am thinking about an eBay sale). Update: done – but I probably need to do it again; a whole year has passed…
  5. Re-organise my Ravelry queue (again) and get knitting. I am going to try and stop adding new patterns for a bit and knit the old ones (or remove them entirely). Update: done – I “favourite” patterns I like now and only queue those that I definitely plan to knit.
  6. Read and comment on more blogs – I have got a bit lazy recently. Update: partially done. I was very good at the start of the year but less so recently…

Right, onto 2014:

  1. Rediscover my sock knitting mojo. I had it, then lost it. You’ll see from the photo above that I have started looking for it already.
  2. Sewing – carried forward from last year. Must. Sew. More.
  3. Publish 4 issues of iMake Magazine in 2014.
  4. Re-organise and clear out the craft room.
  5. Yarn diet… I simply MUST use up some of the beautiful golden skeins I have in my stash.
  6. Promote the Snowflake Crochet-along and share the crochet love.
  7. Develop my crochet skills.
  8. Cross stitch more.

What are your 2014 crafty new year’s resolutions?

Happy new year!
