I have felt compelled to do a little last minute Christmas knitting! This is very unlike me… I have stepped away from Christmas knitting for a few years now. However, my Basic Beanie pattern is such a mindless knit that I am a little addicted to it. I really zone out knitting beanies. I should have called the pattern “Zen Beanie”!
I thought I would experiment with knitting the pattern in different yarn weights. So far I have knitted one for hubby in Malabrigo Worsted which is aran weight (I had a skein left over from Preppy Twisted). Hubby wanted his beanie a little slouchy. Here it is…
Modelled by hubby…
There was a skein (and a bit) of Quince & Co. Puffin left over from my Vintage Bullion scarf so I thought I’d try the pattern in this bulky yarn. It used the whole skein (although it’s a little long so could be knitted with less) and I made a pom pom out of the scraps I had left. This hat was knitted in one evening and is destined for a friend of mine who might well read this blog post (oops – spoiler alert!)
I have just updated the pattern on Ravelry and Craftsy – it’s a free pattern, so please consider downloading it for your last minute knitted gifts. Here are the links:
